Staycations are becoming one of the most common ‘travels ‘ for young professionals. No wonder: we work long hours, are always coming up with new and innovative business ideas that keep us near a computer for when the inspiration hits, and we put everything we have into our careers. Week-long getaways? Yeah…sometimes that ‘s just not an option…
This past Friday, we were one of a few to take a little jaunt (billed as “a short excursion or journey for pleasure”) in Toronto courtesy Jaunt.ca, a soon-to-launch – in Toronto and Montreal – internet-based business that will offer expertly curated travel experiences in your city. Oh, and you can expect a Jaunt.ca package to save you about 60 per cent versus planning and executing your jaunt yourself.
Here’s what Jaunt.ca had in store for our experience…
Friday July 22nd, 2011
3pm: Checked into SOHO Metropolitan Hotel at 318 Wellington Street West
4 to 5pm: Sweet reception at SEN5ES Bakery with some drinks and nibbles
6 to 6:30pm: Private art gallery tour at Neubacher Shor Contemporary Gallery
One hour free time to enjoy the hotel, freshen up, and get ready for the evening.
8pm: Dinner at Lai Wah Heen Restaurant (SOHO Chestnut location)
11:30pm: “Milk and Cookies” nightcap

8 to 9am: Breakfast at SEN5ES Bar (stored luggage at the bar while we continued our jaunt)
9:30 to 10:30am: Graffiti walking tour of the city
Finished our jaunt and headed back to our regularly scheduled programming…er…lives.
Jaunt.ca cultivates these sorts of mini-vacations that help you take a breather while enjoying what your city has to offer; something that can prove difficult given our hectic schedules. It ‘s the perfect sort of escape for the busy young professional, and it won ‘t cost you an arm and a leg.
Jaunt.ca will be launching soon, and if the viability and success of the daily deals sites serves as any indication, we bet there will be lots of jaunts happening around Toronto and Montreal.
