Instagram Tests Out New “Like” Update

Instagram is currently testing out what could be a game-changing shift – especially for the avid “like counter.”

Few things are more anxiety-inducing in the social media world than waiting for that 11th “like” to roll in on Instagram. You know, that one that will change your ten list of names into a nice neat number to document the success of that perfectly filtered shot.

Now, according to Mashable, Instagram is currently testing out a new format that will show all likes in numerical form, rather than just those shots with 11 or more likes.

The thrill of seeing names turn to likes on an otherwise dull moment at work will become a thing of the past. Of course, this can take a lot of the fun out of it.

Some reports claim that the likes will still appear as user names if the count is less than three (not an ideal situation, obviously, but better than seeing a lone ‘1’).

Some users apparently noticed the change over the past few days. According to Mashable, an Instagram spokesperson confirmed the test but didn’t say if, or when, the feature would show up for more people.

Please don’t make me feel like shit and give me at least 11 likes… (@thegingerjew_ ?) #modenyc #11likes #meme
