This year’s edition of the Illuminares Lantern Festival demonstrates how much the festival has grown since it’s inception in 1989. Where it once took place at picturesque Trout Lake, this year it is housed at its largest venue yet – in the heart of downtown. Over the past several decades, the festival has evolved and encouraged a gathering of artists of all sorts – and consistently grown in popularity and community support. The lanterns are the main draw of the festival, and these illuminated paper sculptures showcase the artistic skill that go into making this works of art.
