Il Sogno is The Dream (No Really, Translate It)

Fine dining doesn’t have to be reserved for special occasions. If you love great food, amazing service, and a memorable experience then you should definitely head to Il Sogno. Located in the historic DeWaal building in Bridgeland (No. 24 – 4th Street NE) this fine dining establishment offers some of the best Italian food in Calgary. Hands down.

Celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month, Il Sogno has won a multitude of awards over the years, including most recently the Consumers Choice “Best Italian” Award (2010) and the “Four Diamond” Award by the CAA/ AAA (2009). Yet despite its accolades and honours and awards, Il Sogno remains welcoming and unpretentious. Owner Patricia Koyich often greets you with a smile and is never too busy to answer any questions you may have about the food menu or wine list.

Try the slow cooked lamb meatballs with creamy barley or order the braised veal cheek served with oxtail ravioli. For the adventurous food lover, they offer a four-course Chef’s “Surprise” Menu for $85/ person.

Open for lunch and dinner service, you will often see the room filled with a variety of Calgarians including the city’s young professionals. Just north of the Bow River on Edmonton Trail, it is a great spot for lunch with colleagues or clients.

With 14-foot pressed tin ceilings and hardwood floors, Il Sogno’s room is the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal and fantastic bottle (or bottles) of wine. If you’re planning a special night with a group of friends or a romantic dinner for two, Il Sogno can easily accommodate.

For the young professional who loves wine, Il Sogno also hosts specialty evenings such as wine-pairing dinners on a regular basis…something that’s definitely worth checking out!
