ICYMI in Toronto: December 15, 2014

At Notable, we’re trying to kill FOMO…or make it way worse, depending on how you look at it.

Between your professional, social and charitable lives, we know you’re strapped for time.

So here are a few things that happened in Toronto over the last few days. ‘Cause we want to make you can either check it out while it’s still around or be on closer watch for similar events going forward…

Toronto Christmas Market
Eastbound streetcars and Parliament parking lots have been jammed with Distillery market-goers for weeks now. If you haven’t checked it out yet, you’ve got six more days. The space is filled of creative food vendors, Christmas paraphernalia merchants, cheerful music, and intangible holiday joy. And if you get a bit chilly, definitely try the hot apple cider with spiced Jäger. All restaurants and bars are operating as usual.

Downtown Christmas Tree Markets
The Mirvish folks teamed up with Forests Ontario, and Mexican resto-lounge El Caballito teamed up with EZ Tree to host Christmas tree markets right on the downtown streets of Toronto. But we’ll bet a lot of you didn’t make it and are still short on holiday lumber. So make sure you check next week’s Toronto Weekender and our recommendations on where to find a tree in and around the city. The last thing you want is for Santa to get frustrated and leave your gifts in the fireplace.

DJ Skate Night @ The Harbourfront Centre
This past weekend, Jellybean Benitez lit up the tables while skaters carved up the ice at the Harbourfront Centre for the first DJ Skate Night of the season. You can bring a date, a group, and even your very own vacuum flask filed with a warm, Christmas concoction. The series runs through to February and this weekend is the 3rd Annual 1LoveTO Holiday Skating Party. Admission is free.

Chanukah Family Fun Fair
If you couldn’t make this Kosher carousal yesterday, there are still eight crazy nights of feasts, dreidels, and lights coming up this week. And if you won’t be personally manning a menorah, don’t forget to wish your Jewish acquaintances a “Chanukah Sameach” on the first night of Chanukah, this Tuesday December 16th. And if you need some help getting in the spirit, just take a listen to this Sandler classic.

The Opening of CC Lounge & Whiskey Bar
4,000 sq. ft., beautiful décor, 100+ whiskeys, bourbons, and scotches, barrel-top high-tables, a prohibition-era-inspired menu, and a whiskey tunnel. CC Lounge opened up on Front Street this past Friday and if you didn’t get a chance to visit in its first few days, you should pencil in a whiskey trip over the next few days. If you’re looking for new and improved ways to keep sane and keep warm over the next few holiday season weeks, this is an excellent option.
