Hump Up the Volume: Neil Young’s ‘Downtown’

Hump Day is once again upon the young Toronto professional.

And depending on the week, that hump can look like a wall or a waterslide. But what better way to clear the B-side than by grooving to the A-side of the finest musical talent this city has ever produced. Hump up the volume and cue the weekend soundtrack early with today’s killer Toronto tune: Neil Young’s Downtown.

We all know Neil Young and his legacy of Buffalo Springfield and CSNY. But at 50 years old, this Canadian titan was still rocking as hard as ever. So much so, he teamed up with modern legends, Pearl Jam, to produce Mirror Ball. This was Young’s twenty-third studio album (are you kidding???) and Downtown, the first single from the album, was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 1996 Grammys.

It’s been a long week at work, but not to worry. In no time, you’ll be swinging in downtown, Ol’ Neil style.
