How to Spend Remembrance Day in Vancouver

The weekend is over.

Just kidding.

With November 11th falling on a Tuesday this year, you might be slightly confused as to how you’re going to spend your day off tomorrow. Well, whether you’re looking to get wild on a Monday night or pay your respects on a Tuesday morning, we’ve got you sorted.

Monday Night Moving
Because we all know your Monday night is capable of leading into your Tuesday morning.

Hardwell, the Dutch DJ and music producer who was named top DJ for the second consecutive year is stopping in Vancouver (one night only) on his World Tour.

Looking for less EDM and something more chill? Grab your crew and head to Fortune Soundclub for Slowjam Sundays (SJS). Expect a combo of those 90s R&B classics with a dash of todays soul.

Get Your Beauty Rest
The weekend was only a day ago, but we won’t judge. If you were feeling exhausted this morning from your jam-packed weekend – it happens – this Tuesday is the one you’ve been wishing for. You’re a young professional that has been hustling to get things done and if you need to lounge around and just sleep it off, today’s the day to do it.

Jumpstart Your Holiday Shopping
Whether you need to Chrismakkuh shop or finish your anticipatory sandals hunt for a pending holiday getaway, get it done now. Before you know it, it’s going to be full on consumer mayhem. Having a head start will not only give you time to shop in peace but your blood pressure will also thank you later.

Do Good
Can’t get out of work mode? Organizations need volunteers year-round but as the temperatures drop, there’s an even larger focus on those who are less fortunate. The Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Union Gospel Mission are good places to start if you just want to pitch in for the day or start building a greater relationship by getting more involved.

Have a Canadian Day
What’s more normal on a Canadian holiday than heading to a hockey game? Grab a beer, a friend, and kick back as the Vancouver Canucks take on the Ottawa Senators.

Movie…Day
Stat holiday landing on a Tuesday? Hello cheap movie… day. Spend a whole day watching back-to-back flicks with endless popcorn. It’s a great way to relax and catch up before Oscar season kicks off.

Be A Tourist
Vancouver has one of the most gorgeous city landscapes in the world – and we tend to forget about it during the fall and winter months. Take advantage of your Tuesday and go for a hike somewhere other than the Grouse Grind or the Chief. If the weather doesn’t permit, you can always meander down to Granville Island or Stanley Park to revel in one of the city’s landmarks.

Honour Our Vets
In case you forgot, IT’S REMEMBRANCE DAY. Take an hour out of your day and check out a few of the Remembrance Day Ceremonies to honour our country’s veterans and recognize why you have this day off in the first place. Lest We Forget.
