How To Prepare for Toronto’s Zombie Halloween Parade

Is there anything more fun than heading down to City Hall to watch a bunch of Halloween-obsessed grownups (and kids) bring The Walking Dead to the streets of Toronto?

Well, participating in the action is probably more fun, but we know not everyone has the time or talent to turn themselves into a believable zombie.

So if you’re attending the Toronto Zombie Walk as a participant or a spectator, here are some useful tips to help you get the most out of Toronto’s greatest Halloween activity.

PUT YOUR BEST ZOMBIE FACE ON
What better time to practice your makeup for Halloween night? Here’s your chance to take your scary makeup for a test drive while walking through the streets of Toronto. Even if you don’t want to walk in the parade, you can stand by in your full on costume and just watch everyone else. What’s the point in going through all that trouble tearing up your clothes if you’re only going to use them on one night?

BRING KIDS
If you have kids, or know some kids, they will think you are the coolest person ever if you dress them up in full zombie gore and let them walk in the parade. Zombie kids are the cutest. And if you just want to get them outside and in the Halloween spirit, they will have a blast just watching thousands of zombies cover the streets of the city.

DRESS APPROPRIATELY
We’ve had a very mild October, and that trend looks to be continuing into tomorrow’s forecast – but make sure to check the weather report before you head out in that sexy zombie costume. You might want to make it a little less sexy if it ends up raining.

SLEEP WELL TONIGHT
Whether walking or watching, you’ll be outside on your feet for hours, so get a good night’s rest. It’s going to be a long, fun day.

EAT WELL BEFORE YOU LEAVE FOR THE ACTION (BRAINS ONLY SUSTAIN REAL ZOMBIES)
Continuing on the point above, you don’t want to be 20 minutes into the parade and feel hunger pains. Dropping out to stop in at the closest fast food joint you can find will not only be disappointing, but you might feel slightly uncomfortable walking into a McDonald’s on a Saturday afternoon in full on zombie make-up. Get your fuel for the day in you before you arrive at Nathan Phillips Square.

LEAVE YOUR TOO COOL ATTITUDE AT HOME
If you think there’s something ultra-nerdy about dressing up like a zombie and walking in a Halloween parade, well, you’re probably right. But it’s nerdy in the best possible way. Remember how much fun you used to have gearing up for Halloween as a kid? This is your chance to feel that childlike wonder again. We could all use a little more of that feeling in our lives these days.

Also, think of the Instagrams you’ll be able to share. Halloween rules.
