With tomorrow marking the start of May, our thoughts have naturally wandered to swimwear and the accompanying desire to get bathing suit-ready. As our minds started to daydream to far away places where in an ideal world we would spend our summer months, we had to complete the wishful visual with the ultimate in luxury swimwear. Admittedly more aesthetically pleasing than multi-functional (you may want to water ski or surf in something else) this week’s Hot Shop features some great swimwear splurges for Summer 2012…

Aqua Di Lara Swimwear
This Montreal-based swimwear line by designer Reyhan Sofraci features a diverse selection of one and two-piece luxury swimwear. With selecting swimwear even more subjective than buying jeans, we couldn’t possibly pick just one suit. Although some look more like designer lingerie than swimwear, there are more conservative pieces as well. In general, however, the pieces are sexy yet sophisticated with innovative cutouts and added detailing, many with an old Hollywood glam inspiration. Sofraci’s skillfully designed styles make each suit a work of art and the line has quickly achieved international status. It is available in high-end boutiques and luxury stores throughout North America, Europe and The Middle East.

Burberry Cotton Swimming Shorts in Indigo
These swimming shorts are a perfect compliment to one of the aforementioned swimsuits. The shorts, 75 per cent cotton and 25 per cent polyamide, are an appropriate length and sophistication for the yacht club or pool party, with a cut that isn’t too “college surfer boy,” offering a more classic and refined look. The shorts are available in Military Red and Khaki Green but the Indigo colour is synonymous with nautical and classic luxury. For credit cards and cash, the shorts have slanted pockets, a coin pocket and a back zip pocket. They are lined with mesh lining and feature a metal plaque engraved with the Burberry Brit logo. The shorts feature a hook-and-eye, snap-button and zip closure ands adjustable tabs at the waist.
