In the midst of all the iPhone 5 hype last week, Apple announced the new and reinvented iPod Touch and iPod Nano. The new generation of each model features ultra thin designs, unmatched battery life and an assortment of vibrant, fun colours.
iPod Touch:
The new iPod Touch is the thinnest Touch ever (it is just 6mm thick and weighs 88 grams) and features a 4-inch Retina display, a 5 megapixel iSight camera with 1080p HD video recording, Apple’s A5 Siri chip, and operates on the iO6. The A5 chip means it delivers up to twice the processing power and up to seven times faster graphics than its fourth generation counterpart. It also has a battery life of up to 40 hours of music playback and up to eight hours of video playback. A cool new feature of the Touch is its new panorama camera feature, allowing users to capture panoramic pictures by simply moving the camera across a scene. It also features a built-in Facebook feature that allows users to post directly from Siri, along with other main iOS features like iMessage, FaceTime, Mail and Game Centre. The Airplay Mirring feature allows users to stream photos, videos, music and apps as well as play games on your big screen TV. For the first time, it is available in a selection of five vibrant colours.
iPod Nano 7:
The new iPod Nano 7 has the title of the thinnest iPod yet at just 5.4mm thick. It mixes the touch controls of the last version with the body of the originals. The workout staple features a 2.5-inch multi-touch display, built-in Bluetooth for wireless listening, physical controls running down the side of its body, convenient navigation buttons, the new Lightning connector, built-in fitness and pedometer, and16GB of storage. At 30 hours, it offers the longest music playback of any other Nano. The Nano 7 comes in seven colors.
The new iPod Touch and the new iPod Nano will be available next month through the Apple Online Store, Apple retail stores and Apple Authorized Resellers. Now for the tough decision: which to buy?
