Hipster Irony: The Man Bun Could Be Making Men Go Bald

We have bad news for the lovers and the wearers of the man bun.

According to Science.Mic, the beloved man bun could be responsible for hair loss. When hair is pulled back into a tight bun or ponytail, it causes an unnecessary strain on follicles on the front hairline, which can result in a condition called traction alopecia. This pulling of the hair can result in death and scarring of the hair follicle.

The result is baldness near the temples and forehead.

Apparently, there’s a growing number of cases of traction alopecia in men, and the man bun should be taking part of the blame.

So if you want to keep your locks you may want to save your man bun only for special occasions. And if you absolutely can’t part with it as your daily look, remember to at least try to keep the bun loose.
