Hip Hop and Coffee? Montreal Says Yes

Montreal finally has a cultural center dedicated to hip-hop in its entirety. That’s right, we’re not just talking coffee and hip-hop beats playing in the background, but an entire place where you can fully immerse yourself in this culture.

The space located on 4801 Ave Du Parc has been a hit since the day it opened. Hip-Hop Cafe is divided in two parts: a Cafe section on one side and a place where you can purchase various products such as t-shirts of groups/artists, CDs, vinyl, magazines, books and DVDs on the other.

Unlike just another hip-hop centered club, the Hip-Hop Cafe is an intimate and unique way to bring people towards hip-hop culture and give them a chance to network, socialize and bond over this art form.

The Cafe is host to many events including exhibitions of pictures and paintings, live DJs, autograph sessions, album listening sessions, dance battles, graffiti showcases and much more. To give you an idea of what is going down just in the next four weeks, we compiled four events that you should probably make a point of attending:

– On April 12th (tomorrow), the Atelier HipHop Heads of Concordia are getting together to cypher away and paint live
– April 13th will be hosting X-Wam doing a live beatbox set
– Did someone say karaoke? That’s right, April 17th will be your chance to catch a hip-hop karaoke demo
– For some live beats, check out DJ Walla P spinning on April 19h

If popping in for a casual coffee and music is on the agenda, you can visit them Tuesday to Sunday from 10am, except Sundays, when they open at noon.
