Habitat Living Sound Thinks Outside the Top 40 Box

Habitat Living Sound is the perfect spot for those who are looking to explore the electronic music scene and step outside the Top 40 box. This microclub is located in Calgary’s fashion district (1217 – 1st Street SW) and brings YPs some of the best dance and electronic music the city has to offer.

The space is an intimate, no-pretense, music-first venue, providing YYC YPs an opportunity to enjoy great music while still being able to mingle with friends and meet some really cool people.

Habitat was the brainchild of a group of some of the city’s best in the night club scene. Aqua Audio’s Mikey Da Roza, Cary Chang of Feroshus, and John Liwag of the Cherry Lounge are each pioneers in their respective genres. One of the most important things to them was that Habitat be an inviting space for newcomers, while also remaining a staple for regulars; and it has accomplished just that.

Open from Wednesday to Saturday, you can always guarantee a good night. Wednesday nights feature Robot Rock (a collection of indie, electro, dance music) with DJ Reece. Thursdays are ‘Inside Out
’ with all spectrums of underground dance music. Fridays bring you DJ Disoriental’s Work Out Plan –a collection of funk, disco, rap and dance. Every Saturday evening features house music all night long, with Mikey Da Roza and Cary Chang. How can you not anticipate a great night when two of the owners are up on stage doing what they love? The energy is infectious and, with such great music, the dance floor is usually packed all night long.

The team behind Habitat Living Sound have established themselves and Habitat by continuing to push the musical boundariesby providing a destination for house music and helping build an even larger dance community within Calgary.

Looking for somewhere to host your next event? Habitat is a great venue for special events and group bookings. Give them a shout and they can work with you to ensure your function is a memorable one.
