Google Drive is Giving Away 2GB of FREE Storage Space Today

We’d all be lying if we said we didn’t like free stuff.

And to help celebrate Safer Internet Day, which is meant to promote safe and secure usage of technology and smartphones, Google is giving away 2 GB of free Drive space to users who complete a brief account security checkup.

The security checkup ensures that users are making the most of the protection they already get from Google.

And while it’s not a car, we’ll take whatever we can get.

First you need to head over to your Google security settings where you’ll then be prompted to answer a few basic questions.

The checkup takes less than a minute and will then ask you to verify that your backup email and phone numbers are correct so Google can get in touch with you if there’s any unusual activity on your account or if you are accidentally locked out.

It will then ask you to review the devices connected to your account. If any of these devices look unfamiliar or you do not have access to certain devices, then you can fully disable them from this section.

Finally, you need to double check which apps currently have access to your Google account. If any of them look unfamiliar you can easily remove their permissions too.

Once you’re done you’ll be rewarded with 2GB of permanent Drive space.

According to the Verge, Google ran a similar promotion last year, but you’ll still get 2GB of space even if you claimed it last time. Considering how quick and painless this freebie is, there’s pretty much no reason not to take advantage of this opportunity.
