Get Festive and Get a Taste of Iceland

Curious about the land of hot springs, volcanoes, Vikings and folklore? Iceland’s sophisticated European culture juxtaposes age-old traditions with new trends, making it a desirable destination for any traveller. Whether planning a trip or not, get ready for A Taste of Iceland in Toronto, as the festival returns this Thursday, March 21, until Sunday, March 24.

ATI introduces North Americans to Icelandic life by visiting various host cities each year (including Seattle, Denver, and Boston), inviting residents to enjoy Icelandic food, music, film and art. Here is how you can taste and listen…

TASTE: Chef Hákon Már Örvarsson, Bocuse d’Or recipient and World Culinary Cup winner, will collaborate with Toronto’s own Darren Glew, Head Chef at the Drake Hotel. The two have designed a fresh four-course prix-fixe menu ($45) focused on authentic Icelandic delicacies. True to form, the Drake will offer an Iceland-inspired cocktail created by mixologist Aaron Gaulke. For reservations, call 416.531.5042 ext. 1.

LISTEN: On Saturday, March 23, The Hoxton will host REYKJAVIK CALLING, a one-night marriage of Icelandic and Canadian sound. This free concert will be presented by Canadian Music Week so that concert-goers can enjoy performances from three Icelandic artists, alongside two Canadian artists. The line-up includes Apparat Organ Quartet (Iceland), Ásgeir Trausti (Iceland, pictured) Sóley (Iceland), Cai.ro (Canada) and Revelstoke (Canada).
