When it comes to my personal style, I definitely consider myself more of a simple person. I wear the same earrings every day, the same necklace, and – of course – the same watch. So when I was given the opportunity to test drive the new Galaxy Watch from Samsung, of course, I was intrigued, but I didn’t see how it could replace my basic, everyday watch.
Again, I’ve always been intrigued by smartwatches – I’m a big fan of AI and loved the thought of having a virtual assistant available at a glance. And so I found Bixby, Galaxy’s very own intelligent assistant, is super helpful to have on my wrist all day long. Whether I’m looking for a restaurant or parking nearby, it’s an easy way to find information fast without diverting attention away from my busy day – or digging around in my purse for my phone.
Having the power of a mini smartphone on my wrist is also super handy when I’m running around the city – literally or figuratively. I really love the Galaxy Watch’s capabilities when it comes to health and fitness tracking. I love that it gives me reminders to get up and move every hour – even when I’m at my desk. It also gives me small suggestions on what moves I can do to get my heart rate up and stay active. When I’m actually exercising, the Galaxy Watch is a great tool to keep track of my steps, calories, heart rate, water intake and so much more. Even in small moments of activity throughout the day, my Galaxy Watch motivates me to stay active. A simple walk down the street to get coffee is rewarded with a vibration on my wrist and encouraging words.
The Galaxy Watch is also awesome for days when you don’t want to have your phone immediately on hand. I am still able to pick up calls, send texts and even reply to emails from my wrist. I love getting email reminders from the Watch – I find it helps me stay on task no matter where I am in the office. Plus, Samsung Pay is also a favourite feature of mine, as it allows me to leave the house with even fewer things to travel with! Paying for lunch with a tap of my Watch definitely took some getting used to, but is so, so handy! (Not to mention, super cool!)
Get this – I also love using my Galaxy Watch when I’m sleeping. And no, that’s not a typo. Using the Galaxy Watch to track my sleep cycle has been such an interesting feature for me! It tracks when you get into bed, how much time you spend sleeping, and even analyzes the quality of my sleep patterns – the amount of light sleep you get, deep sleep and REM sleep, which is the most restorative time in your sleep cycle. I’ve never tracked my sleep before and find it so fascinating, and insightful! By tracking my sleep cycle, I’m finding I can truly see how much rest I’m getting per night – it’s helped me to be more mindful of how much time I should give myself to wind down at the end of a busy day.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch took me by surprise in the best way – I really wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do! It’s such a useful piece of tech that has quickly become one of my everyday essentials – it even looks just like a real watch! My traditional watch will always hold a special place in my heart, but staying connected and keeping up with my busy pace every day, the Galaxy Watch is my new essential.
