Residents of Fort MacMurray, Alberta have had a tough year, to say the least.
So to make their holiday season a little brighter, Canadian airline and purveyor of holiday miracles WestJet hosted a little ‘Snowflake Soiree’.
Attendees had a rough idea of what they were in for – food, drinks, a free concert by country music artist Johnny Reid.
But there was also a major surprise, and it came raining down from the sky in parachutes. Attached to each parachute was an ornament, and inside each ornament was a free plane ticket courtesy of WestJet.

With over 90 destinations in 19 countries to choose from, that’s a pretty exceptional Christmas gift.
“Anytime I talk about the nice things people have done since May, I cry. I don’t know how many people I hugged last night from WestJet, because like I told someone, they just put the merry back into Christmas,” said resident Barb Warner.
Bravo, WestJet.
