Five Vancouver Charity Runs This Fall

We know – summer’s over.

But that doesn’t mean you have to stay inside. In fact, we’ve put together a list of five of the best ways you can stay fit and give back this fall.

You may already be a runner – we’re just here to make sure you’re running with a purpose…

The Color Run
That’s the offical spelling – no matter what we Canadians may have to say about it. Known as the Happiest 5K on the Planet, this fun run is a unique paint race that definitely gets messy. Wear race gear you’re ready to retire afterwards, and help celebrate healthiness, happiness, and individuality alongside thousands of other runner. Since launching in the United States, The Color Run has grown exponentially with more than 30 countries now on board. Vancouver’s effort supports local charities like Kidsport Vancouver.

The Eastside 10K
Takes placing this weekend, you should probably already have a pair of well used running shoes if you want to take this 10K on. Up to 1800 participants will take a fast-paced tour through the changing face of our city while benefitting a trio of local charities. Registrants for the run are supporting Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, Greater Vancouver Food Bank, and Watari Counseling and Support Services respectively. Don’t wait, online registration for the race closes today at midnight. Note: there’s no race day entry so sign up here.

Night Race 5/10K
If you’re someone who prefers to lace up when the sun goes down, this September 26th run in Stanley Park should be perfect for you. Along with your water bottle, make sure to bring your headlamp (or use one of those provided) and raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation of Canada. It’s the perfect way to see Vancouver by night, partake in an epic after party and squeeze in a bit of training for our next suggested run.

BlueShore Financial Spirit of the North Shore Half Marathon
Head to the North Shore for the inaugural edition of this run early next month (October 5th). In its first year, the half marathon will take you along a mostly flat waterfront route through North and West Vancouver. We’re betting you’ll forget you’re even running thanks to the stunning scenic distractions offered by Lions Gate Bridge, Stanley Park, Coal Harbour, and more. Well, forget might be a strong word – but at least you’ll have some beautiful distractions.

Electro Dash 5K Dance Party
If a half marathon isn’t quite what you’re up for, this 5K moving dance party might be more what you had in mind. On October 3rd, follow this fairly easy route through town by the PNE with neon lights, music, lasers, and a DJ party at the end of the course. If you’ve never found running to be fun before – you will now.
