Fall Trends 2013: Pastel Pink

We all vowed never to wear pink again after Paris Hilton advised us several years ago that “everything you have in your wardrobe should relate to pink in some way,” but somehow the cotton candy shade has tickled our fancy this season. Seeing the ravishing rose colour all over the runways undoubtedly intrigued us, but we are still cautioned to remain refined in this sherbert shade by veering away from the girly frou frou cuts and sticking to more sharply tailored looks.

One of the hottest trends on runways this fall is the pink oversized overcoat. Designers flagrantly suggest we brighten our gloomy winter days by adding the bubblegum shade to our new posh palette too offer a burst of femininity to a billowy, more masculine shape.

Even celebs are ditching winter’s typically dim hues and opting for the powder pink undertones. Ashley Madekwe paired a pink vinyl pencil skirt with a harsher leather jacket and Ciara selected a softer look in a pink mohair jumper for two different, but strong, icy, on-trend winter looks.

Combining pink and sequins may seem over the top, but fusing the sweet shade with a shimmering texture creates nothing but charming theatrics to the trend.

Add sweetness to a typically salacious texture like lace by mixing with this lady-like hue.

Whether you prefer to roughen up your pinks with more masculine shapes and darker hues, or you choose to adopt the trend wholeheartedly, powder pink fashions seem to be the most coveted colour of the moment.
