Well, Nordstrom – what a way to say hello.
An overwhelming (in the best way possible) 140,000 pristine square feet of clothing, shoes, jewelry, and makeup welcomed enthusiastic shoppers when only just a day earlier construction had been underway and shelves were still being stocked.
Strewn around the store were drink carts filled with soda bottle cosmopolitans and cans of champagne, as well as snack walls full of chips and marshmallows. There were stations for charcuterie and crudités, a rainbow assortment of lollipops, sushi, and sake all catered by local food mastermind Chef Duncan Ly of Raw Bar and Hotel Arts, that kept guests fuelled throughout the evening.
Live entertainment from Toronto’s Sean Jones had people dancing in the aisles between purchasing Valentino shoes and Burberry trenches until well past closing time.
Models taking the place of mannequins around the store served as living inspiration of the latest trends, rotating every fifteen minutes to make sure party-goers were kept visually enthralled, all while providing the perfect inspiration for that new fall wardrobe.
With emptied wallets, satiated guests (both in hunger and closet) left the party with a bouquet of fresh flowers in hand amongst their bags and bags of goodies, and a heartfelt thank-you from Nordstrom staff.
Calgary, if this perfectly executed evening showed us anything, it’s that you better be lined up when Nordstrom officially opens its doors to the public this weekend.
After all, 140,000 sq. ft. is a lot of ground to cover.
