New York’s oldest department store, Lord & Taylor, has brightened up The Bay’s showroom with the launch of its brand new private label, 424 Fifth. The brand, named after the store’s prestigious Fifth Avenue address, is a ready-to-wear collection exclusive to Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor stores.
The line of apparel and accessories begins with a foundation of wearable wardrobe essentials and ends with head-turning statement pieces. The spring collection highlights included a bright bird cage skirt with a voluminous and feminine silhouette, and long jackets with dramatic graphic prints. Punches of electric pastels are carried throughout the line and balanced by white, black, and navy.
To celebrate the launch, The Bay invited some notable members of Vancouver’s fashion community to meet Chief Creative Officer Marie Holman-Rao, the visionary behind the brand. On stage, Fashion Magazine’s Joy Pecknold hosted a live Q&A where the two discussed the origin and inspiration of the brand. A presentation of six complete looks followed, with models styled head-to-toe in 424 Fifth’s best and brightest pieces.
Moving from the catwalk into the crowd, the models mingled as the guests dispersed to the floor to browse the freshly stocked shelves and racks. Roving servers provided delicious snacks and flowing Champagne from Culinary Capers.
424 Fifth is available at Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada, online at thebay.com, or at any of the 49 Lord & Taylor stores in the United States.
