Event Recap: KYO Bar Japonais x Notable Official Grand Opening

With the influx of new restaurants popping up all over Old Montreal, a major need for a chic Izakaya spot was recently fulfilled with the opening of Kyo Bar Japonais located at the Place d’Armes in Old Montreal.

To celebrate the success that was already circulating around this hot spot, our dear friends at Groupe Antonopoulos, the hospitality team behind Old Montreal’s most exciting eateries, including Méchant Boeuf and BEVO Bar + Pizzeria, partnered with us to host their official grand opening this past Thursday, June 20th.

Upon entry to the soiree – after passing the velvet red rope and walking on an Oscar-worthy red carpet – perfectly clad young professionals made a quick stop to pose and smile for the cameras at the KYO x Notable media wall.

Expecting nothing less than fabulous, the party was not only happening inside the modern and utterly warm space, but the outside park next to Place d’Armes was taken over in full force as well.

Featuring a Bacardi, wine and vodka Bar that were meeting points of trendy YPs throughout the party, along with delicious food stations prepared by chef Terrence “Ding” Ting, guests embraced the best of Japanese comfort food – but with an air of sophistication and more than a few surprises. Yum!

A Japanese-inspired party wouldn’t be complete without traditionally dressed Japanese drum players, who played the instruments with complete finesse and power, Kimono-clad stilt walkers, and a Japanese calligraphy station for guests to participate in and enjoy.

The day to night party continued in style with live DJs spinning the perfect beats for the summer-welcoming weather as Montreal’s top young professionals, media, movers and shakers, and our closest friends socialized, indulged in the food and drinks, and partied away amongst the 500-plus guests.

Needless to say, the grand opening was a truly notable success and is still being talked about days later.

Kyo Bar Japonais is situated at 711 Côte de la Place d’Armes, Old Montreal, and is now fully open and the ideal spot for business lunches, parties, dates or just to pop by with a friend or two. Try one of their amazing sakes and enjoy summer nights ahead… irasshaimase!
