Event Recap: GE Monogram Dinner By Design

About 150 guests and VIPs were given a red carpet welcome at the transformed venue (The Imperial) before being ushered past photographers and into the bar’s reception area. A steady dose of DJ beats and custom cocktails were all but served on demand as ball gowns and bow-ties mingled.

Guests were dressed to impress for this celebration of food, aesthetics and AIDS awareness, and we took the opportunity to hobnob with some of the city’s finest established and young professionals while taking in the inspiring scene. At $250 per ticket, seats for the multi-course fundraiser dinner were in demand and 10 different table ‘concepts’ were up for grabs (with catering by Culinary Capers).

Well-known design personalities Kelly Deck and Karin Bohne of Moeski Design Agency and other participating pros (Amanda Forrest and The Medina Design Group, to name a few) were put to serious artistic task to create a custom installation for the evening’s gala – within 24 hours.

The resulting micro spaces were stunning, with a mix of Scandinavian-sleek, crystal extravaganzas, fantastic florals and one standout space that all but brought the outdoors inside.

On our radar: we loved the rustic yet chic appeal of Sophie Burke Design’s Scandinavian space, right down to a set of Elk antlers prominently positioned on simple whitewashed wood walls coupled by minimalist table-setting features.

The all-white (and we mean everything) stylings of Filosophi’s table were as intricate as they were interesting. Also rounding out the monochromatic theme was an eye-catching blinged-out creation literally dripping in crystals.
