Event Recap: Brooks Brothers Store Opening on Bloor Street

Brooks Brothers, America’s oldest retailer, celebrated the opening of its seventh Canadian store and second flagship in the historic, high-end fashion quarter of Yorkville’s Bloor Street last week, carrying collections for men, women, and children. Originally established in 1818 by Henry Sand Brooks, in New York City, it is now a global purveyor of American style, having outfitted 39 of 44 Presidents of the United States and creating one of the most enduring and popular items: the iconic button-down collar shirt.

The interior of the Bloor Street store takes inspiration from the nearly 100-year-old Brooks Brothers flagship store located at 346 Madison Avenue in New York City. With two levels, the new Brooks Brothers location features the full Spring 2014 collection called Fleece, the collegiate-inspired Red Fleece label for men and women and the Black Fleece by Brooks Brothers collection designed by Thom Browne. Located on the first floor and the lower level, it provides gentleman with a clubby atmosphere featuring a lounge area. On the lower level, gentleman will discover the men’s casual and outdoor collections, Made to Measure, and a large formal wear offering including a comfortable personal shopping room. Many of the store’s fixtures and decorations are antique, crafting a truly unique shopping environment in keeping with Brooks Brothers heritage. The new flagship will be the first in Canada to offer furnishings and home decor, including refined accents and accessories to complement the home.

The opening party, thrown by APEX PR with support from Melissa Andre Events, saw guests such as Ben Mulroney, Ainsley Kerr, Glen Baxter, Brad Lamb, Catriona Smart and Tyrone Edwards enjoy cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and music by DJ Brendan Fallis. 10% of the evening’s proceeds as well as a silent auction benefited KINSA Foundation, a not-for-profit organization with an expanding global footprint that rescues children from harm.

Tyrone Edwards, Ainsley Kerr, Brad Lamb and Ben Mulroney were all dressed head to toe in Brooks Brothers.
