Eco Fashion Week: Season 3

Coming soon to a runway near you…This week marks the return of Vancouver’s ethically-minded Eco Fashion Week, celebrating its 3rd anniversary from October 5th though 7th in Gastown. This 3-day event (we know, not quite a ‘week’) is a must-do for stylish-minded young professionals interested in environmental design topics and ‘green’ marketing practices used in today’s fashion industry.

Eco Fashion Week will once again showcase accomplished local and international talents who’ve eschewed traditional fashion design practices in favour of sustainable methods of production. This year’s EFW spotlights the innovative designers who have made strides within the fashion industry, making their mark before international audiences with unique and stunning collections.

Whether you’re a full-blown fashionista/nisto, budding designer, or simply want an excuse to pull out the organic bling for an evening of eco-minded couture, this is a notable opportunity (leave the Birkenstocks at home, please). Get a sneak-peek at top eco-trends for Spring/Summer 2012 and catch the best of Fall fashions certain to inspire your sense of style and help flesh out your closet.

Catch Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist Ashleigh McIvor will strut her stuff on behalf of Quebec’s Harricana par Mariouche line. For those with an eye for burlesque-inspired designs that demand attention, catch the show-stopping Trunk Show by Misty Greer. and view the latest collections from Vancouver design darling Nicole Bridger as well as bikini-body finds courtesy of Anna Kosturova.

There will be something for everyone (we’re talking to you, too, fellas), with buzzed about lines such as LRMA Clothing and pieces from menswear designer Jeff Garner set to showcase collections.

This year, EFW will introduce a new pop-up ‘eco boutique’ concept called The Window for savvy-shoppers looking to do some notable fiscal damage. The on-site boutique will feature local DJs spinning beats while attendees comb the racks for fashionable eco-finds.

Fashion-forward Notables can review the full schedule of events for EFW and purchase tickets in-advance here. Tickets start at only $20, or can be picked up for $25 at the door.
