‘Driving in Toronto 2018’ Dashcam Video Reveals Why No One is Safe

Dashcam videos occupy a special place in Internet lore. Through no other medium can you take in the absurdity – and danger – of life on earth.

Case in point: One motorist’s ‘Driving in Toronto 2018’ video, a compilation of insanity recorded from his dashboard. It’s only a minute long but feels like an eternity, capturing the perils of navigating the city by car. It’s hard to tell if the people featured in the video are actually toddlers behind the wheel, or if they’re high, or if they’re tourists from Vancouver. Perhaps all three. Probably. Hopefully, actually, because we should seriously and immediately close our driving schools otherwise.

What I can reliably say is that this video will bring a smile to TTC executives this holiday season.

There’s a nonchalant bike dad who almost moseys his way into the afterlife, an absolutely wasted woman with no regard for personal safety, a taxi practicing donuts in the middle of the street, lane-changes into oncoming traffic, and plenty of evidence for changing the highway speed limit to 25 km/h.

The most egregious act, however, is a cop slowing down to premeditate a collision. At one point, a wild dude dressed in an all-gold get-up with prom heels dancing across the intersection. It is the most reasonable display in the video.

Check it out and weep for the safety of you and your loved ones:
