Ashley Graham made headlines when she became the first #beautybeyondsize model to grace the pages of Sports Illustrated back in 2015. A year later, she landed the sought-after cover.
Being “ahead of the curve” paved the way for fellow fuller-figured women to follow suit. This year, Denise Bidot was un-retouched in a Lane Bryant advertisement printed in the 2017 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

The ad is for Lane Bryant, who – as you may recall – has been a vocal player in the body positivity movement, most notably with throwing shade at Victoria Secret with their hugely popular “I’m No Angel” campaign.
“It’s an honour to be in the @lanebryant ad featured in the pages of the 2017 @si_swimsuit , completely unretouched,” wrote the model and mom alongside a sexy photo of her in a bikini. “It’s amazing to be a part of the change that’s helping women see once and for all that nobody is perfect. We can still be beautiful in spite of our imperfections. It’s time we celebrate each other and learn to love the skin we are in.”
A few weeks prior, she teased about the upcoming ad, captioning another bikini pic with “Thank you @lanebryant for loving my body, stretch marks and all.”
