Dairy Lane

Dairy Lane has been serving up the best burgers and breakfasts since 1950 and it’s easy to see why people have been coming here for the last 60 years.

Too often breakfast joints offer eggs Benedict, but don’t know how to really do this all-time favourite dish right. At Dairy Lane, lovers of eggs benny will not be disappointed. You’ll get two perfectly poached eggs on a toasted English muffin with just the right amount of hollandaise sauce served with your choice of three toppings.

This diner has become so popular recently that there is often a wait to get a table during peak times. However, the staff at Dairy Lane has developed an ingenious solution by offering people waiting outside on the patio hot beverages and snugly blankets to keep them warm and awake on cold Calgary mornings. So if you’re planning on going to Dairly Lane, prepare to go early, or get cozy up outside for a bit of a wait.

Aside from their impressive breakfast selection, Dairy Lane also offers several different burgers, each one as unique and delectable as the last. The delicious Spicy Chorizo Pork Burger is definitely not your standard burger, as it has a spicy chorizo and ground pork patty topped with banana peppers, gouda cheese and pepper mayo. Interestingly enough, half of their burger selections are veggie offerings. In fact, it’s surprisingly easy to get a great vegetarian or vegan meal at Dairy Lane. For a great vegan option, check out the Caribbean Jerk Vegan Scramble with jerk spiced tofu sautéed with bell peppers, onions, potato with a side of mixed greens topped with avocado, fresh tomato and black bean corn cilantro salad. Also, like many restaurants in Calgary, Dairy Lane focuses on locally produced and sustainable ingredients and even list their suppliers on their menu.

Dairy Lane isn’t some greasy burger joint, it really is a home-grown treat. It’s a perfect excuse to get out to Hillhurst on a sunny day. Dairy Lane, 319 19th Street NW, Calgary, 403-283-2497.
