WORK

1. Describe what you do in less than 140 characters. Go.
I work with major brands and agencies to get all their digital marketing results in one place to improve overall industry performance.

2. What was the inspiration for your career route?
I’m an opportunist and have followed the dots. Qoints, my current business, is a spin-out from a successful marketing agency launched in 2008 – and that was a natural evolution from the event promotion business my partner and I ran in school.

3. What is the most memorable milestone in your career so far?
I have two that stand out:

– The first time I walked in to a well-known grocery store and saw a product display with creative graphics that my team oversaw.

– Our first term sheet from an investor (that wasn’t a friend or family member).

4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?
5 years – seeing my product and business visions become reality for Qoints. A lot of people who didn’t believe in our disruptive model will be happy clients five years from now.

10 years – Qoints is a reputable international company at this point and I’m playing more of a specialist role. My focus is likely on the next project. A lot less travel these days as the family demands are picking up.

20 years – I’m meeting a city planner in an attempt to get rezoning on a property I’m developing.

5. Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
I always get a ROI from helping people.

Everything we do today is planting seeds and building our base for tomorrow. When taking action, think of the 20-year plan and not how you will get paid off today.

6. Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is it (or they) important to you?
I’m a pretty strong advocate for Parkinson’s awareness because of family ties to the disease. I participate in an annual bike ride that has raised over $500,000 towards research grants in the past five years.

7. What does the word notable mean to you?
Something worth being aware of that is important and/or extraordinary

PLAY

1. Where is your favourite place to wine/ dine in your city and why?
Wine aka scotch at Barhop, King West. Dine at Home of the Brave (I always get a handshake sandwich and tater-tots).

2. What’s the most visited website on your Internet browser?
Gmail.

3. Who’s one person you think everyone should be following on social media?
Bill Gates.

4. What’s your favourite cocktail?
Single malt, two fingers on the rocks.

5. What gives you the greatest FOMO?
Besides the obvious anxiety about growing old, and the impact that has on relationships with family and friends, property investing is a passion of mine and I often get pretty bad FOMO when new condo projects are announced.

6. What would be your last meal? And don’t hold back…
Bubbies chicken soup to start, grandma’s baseball steak with a side of mom’s chicken piccata, birthday cake for dessert, and Diet Dr. Pepper to drink.

7. What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
There’s a computer game I used to play as a kid, Transport Tycoon. There are rare Saturday nights when all my friends are going out… I’ll tell them I have work to do but really I just want to binge play the same tycoon game I played as a 12-year-old.
