We’ve mentioned before that the Eaton Centre is undergoing a serious shopping renaissance. Where once stood a collection of stores, some great, some subpar, now stands a revived and refreshed shopping centre. Don’t get us wrong, we’re not saying it’s perfect, but with the recent additions of Stuart Weitzman, Michael Kors, Victoria’s Secret, JOEY Eaton Centre, Trattoria Mercatto and the list goes, the Eaton Centre is quickly becoming one of the hottest spots in Toronto to shop…again.
Case in point: Scotch & Soda/Maison Scotch Amsterdam Couture is opening up their newest Toronto location in the space left by Costa Blanca – a definite step up. Set for an August opening (when we get a confirmed date we’ll let you know), Scotch & Soda/Maison Scotch is the perfect spot to find classy casual and weekend wear. A mix of classic styles with modern edge, Scotch & Soda/Maison Scotch’s collections are the stuff of culturites’ dreams. A mix of subdued trendy with updated classics, the clothing is a sampling of great wardrobe basics.
Scotch & Soda is the men’s namesake collection, and it’s like Abercrombie meets H&M with a hint of American Apparel…only ten times better than that sounds. Mostly neutral colours and deep hues abound in this line, and layering is a cinch thanks to the knits and tees. Look for some great Varsity-style coordinates for the office, when you get to dress down a little and go for sophisticated yet casual cool.
Maison Scotch is for the ladies. A blend of boho and boyfriend – with a dash of quiet sophistication – the Maison Scotch collection has some stunning pieces that will become go-to ensemble favourites. With influences from the late 60s to early 90s, Maison Scotch is perfect for that if-vintage-were-now look.
Amsterdam Blauws Scotch & Soda’s denim collection, named for the colour of paint that was used in the Golden Century and now adorns countless buildings in the named city. This denim project draws inspiration from American and Japanese aesthetics. Look for slim fits with five-pocket silhouettes, and “blue collar” styling. The men’s line features distressed denim in varying washes and levels of embellishment, while the women’s selections are less distressed and slightly more tailored, perfect for pairing with your favourite heels.
