Imagine 9,000 sq. ft. of men and women’s apparel, a coffee shop, bookstore, and farmer’s market stocked with items local to Quebec.
Much like its New York flagship, Club Monaco’s new Montreal location seeks to fuse the worlds of fashion, culture, and commerce by way of lifestyle additions and innovative collaborations.
Welcome to the new era of retail.
Inside this gorgeous turn-of-the-century building, Club Monaco brings the French Cafe experience to Rue Sainte-Catherine by housing a patisserie from Cafe Myriad, the popular neighbourhood gem. This Montreal staple is inspired by the world’s most notable Cafes, such as Balthazaar, Pastis, Rose Bakery, and Merci, and will offer shoppers a wealth of baked goods, both sweet and savoury, as well as its signature coffee locally sourced in Quebec.
Additionally, Club Monaco will house Société-Orignal, a gourmet dry goods store, in which all products, such as vinegar, honey, jams, and herbs will be supplied by regional farmers of the Quebec province.
Did we mention that alongside the Cafe is a bookshop curated by local Montreal-based store Drawn & Quarterly.
Talk about epic reads.
We also can’t keep writing this piece without including news that the store also houses a solid Chanel vintage section featuring handbags and jewellery you will surely swoon over.
Get those wallets ready. Seriously – for the handbags, obviously.
The exterior is a beauty on its own. Using the city’s signature oversized plate glass windows, a wealth of natural light will serve to enhance the clothing and brighten the store during the long winter months. The door is made of a luxurious white oak, featuring custom grilles and historical hardware. On the interior, the store resembles its Fifth Avenue flagship, where both beaux-arts inspired buildings mix the traditional and modern, while other decorative touch points are maintained across the stores.
Commissioned artwork lines the walls, reflecting the store’s vision of continually bridging art with fashion in new and exciting ways.
“Our new store on Rue Sainte-Catherine is the perfect place to reintroduce Club Monaco’s updated direction and point of view,” said John Mehas, Chief Executive Officer at Club Monaco.
“We feel the stylish Montreal customer will resonate with our offerings as well as our lifestyle selections that were directly inspired by this wonderful region of the world.”
The new store is located at 1000 Rue Sainte-Catherine West. But charge your phone before going; trust us, your Instagram will thank you.
