Ciao Wine Bar is a modern version of peasant-style Italy in upscale Yorkville, Toronto. The swanky, wooden interior ignites a desire to sit back, relax and enjoy your company – whether it be your own or with the presence of others, the venue is great for a solo meal or group event. The food served here is simple (but not at all boring) Italian; marvelously cheesy pizzas and pastas (also known as carb heaven), but one can never deny the utter bliss of a really well-made thin crust pizza, and that’s exactly what Ciao Wine Bar can deliver. Favourites among patrons are the polenta, the Tuna Carpaccio, the Sausage Calzone, and the Chicken Fettuccine with pesto and mascarpone cheese in a light tomato sauce. For dessert, try the Dark Chocolate Baci Bombe.
With three levels of seating, the lower section has been altered to resemble an old world wine cellar, with arched brick walls, vaulted ceilings and vintage wine racks. This level is a great and unique location in Toronto to hold events for large groups of people, as it is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the restaurant, which is more reminiscent of the urban-chic Yorkville vibe. The restaurant comprises over 8,000 square feet and 250 seats, yet remains a soulful and inviting space; casual enough to relax and enjoy a glass of wine, but elegant enough to celebrate a special occasion. A nice touch to the décor of the venue is the butcher-block tabletops, an evocative detail portraying peasant life in old Europe.
Ciao Wine Bar is a classic within the classiest of areas in Toronto: Yorkville, filled with beautiful, well-dressed young professionals and lovers of life…and great wine. Ciao Wine Bar, 133 Yorkville Avenue, Toronto, 416-925-2143.
