Chelsea Handler Wants to Have a ‘Civilized Conversation’ with Canadians About Cannabis

American comedian and author Chelsea Handler is bringing her incisive wit and unique perspectives to the Great White North.

Touring from coast to coast, she’ll be in conversation with Canadians, talking pop culture, politics and cannabis at seven town hall events at local universities and theatres from September 20 to October 7, 2018.

Starting in Calgary, Handler will be all over the map, heading to Vancouver, Winnipeg, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and ending in Halifax. The tour is hosted by Civilized in association with the World Cannabis Congress.

It’s likely that you already know and love Chelsea Handler from her network TV and Netflix appearances. She’s been making waves on screen for over a decade as an actor, television host and stand-up comic. She was the host of Chelsea Lately on E! and is currently hosting the talk show, Chelsea, on Netflix in addition to her documentary series, Chelsea Does.

What’s the next thing Chelsea is going to do? Release a documentary about white privilege in America. It’s no doubt that we can expect ‘A Civilized Conversation with Chelsea Handler’ to be, well, civilized. But we can also expect that Handler won’t shy away from the issues she’s passionate about, like equality and social justice.

The live events will be moderated by Civilized founder and publisher Derek Riedle, who’s a giant in both the cannabis and digital publishing industries. This tour is fashioned after a similar one that they just wrapped up in the U.S. focusing on social and political activism.

Civilized is a lifestyle and culture brand that has its roots in both New Brunswick and California, making Riedle a fitting conversationalist for Handler to engage with on matters touching either side of the border.

Riedle said in a press release, “Chelsea Handler’s perspective, approach and humour galvanize and inspire her audiences wherever she goes.” He looks forward to their upcoming conversations where he hopes they will be able to take “the pulse of the nation.”

Keeping with the true town hall spirit, Handler and Riedle want to open up a dialogue with you. Audience members will be invited to participate in the conversation. Valid ticket holders could even be selected to meet Chelsea in the VIP lounge before the show. Secure a seat in the show nearest to you for your chance to stand up, speak out and be heard on the issues that matter to you.

Chelsea Handler’s much-anticipated trip north of the border will tap into what is really on the minds of Canadians. You won’t want to miss out.
