CHARCUT’s Alley Burger Takes to the Streets

Canada is being infiltrated. It seems any city you go to now has droves of these intruders, and there’s nothing we can do about it…not that there’s anything we want to do about it. We are, of course, talking about gourmet food trucks. Who doesn’t love some amazing street meat – especially if that street meat is carefully prepared and spiced and served in numerous different mouth-watering forms. Your street-corner jumbo dog stand just can’t compete with this burgeoning breed of haute food trucks, and that is in no way a bad thing. Case in point: CHARCUT Roast House’s Alley Burger “Eats on the Streets 2011.”

CHARCUT Roast House has been a beloved stop by Calgarians, and last summer we got the first taste of the Alley Burger, which they promoted via social media to create some notable buzz around their limited number, back-alley burgers. And now, young professionals, we can all rejoice in the fact that the Alley Burger is on wheels.

Chefs and Owners Connie DeSousa – who became a known name Canada-wide amongst foodies and Food Network lovers for her amazing culinary chops showcased on Top Chef Canada – and John Jackson are taking the Alley Burger to the streets this summer with Chef Mike Batke in the driver’s seat. Fuelled by social media, the Alley Burger food truck will randomly show up at different spots in downtown Calgary during lunch hours. You’ll have to stay up-to-date on Twitter and Facebook to make sure you don’t miss the next sighting.

On the menu will be the classic Alley Burger we’ve come to love, as well as new burgers like the Whole Truck – made with Spring Creek Beef Chuck – and there may even be early-morning Alley Burgers – with fried eggs on a garlic sausage patty with cheese curds (a definite potential being considered by the chefs and driver).

Can we say excited?
