To feed your weekly guilty indulgence of both male and female eye candy, coupled with 360- degree inspiration, we will profile a different celeb each week that we feel embodies this.

Professional
It seems that every time we search movie listings, there is always at least one featuring Hollywood hunk Channing Tatum. Last night was no exception; he is currently alongside Rachel MacAdams in The Vow (along with an assortment of other Toronto actors) and funnyman Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street, which topped box offices this past weekend. The film, in which the two actors play cops who go back to high school on an undercover mission to take down the school’s drug dealers and suppliers, took in a well-deserved $35 million over the weekend, according to an estimate by distributor Sony Pictures.

The actor, who turns 32 next month, has come a long way professionally since turning down an athletic scholarship to university, working an assortment of odd jobs (including a stint as a male stripper), modelling and even appearing in Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs” music video in 2000 for a mere $400. Early roles in teen-oriented films like She’s the Man and Step-Up quickly secured Tatum’s place as a heartthrob. The 1980s-set drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints is described as his “first dramatic role,” which first premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and earned him an Independent Spirit Award nomination for “Best Supporting Actor.” Tatum has enjoyed a continuous and increasingly respected film career, appearing in films like The Trap(directed by Rita Wilson), Fighting, Public Enemies, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Dear John and The Eagle, among others.

Social
Channing is known to have a healthy and active social life, filled with loving “bromances,” event appearances and dinners with mutual friends of his wife, Jenna Dewan, whom he met on the set of Step-Up in 2006 and married in 2008. Tatum’s latest BFF is21 Jump Street co-star Jonah Hill and the two stars became best friends while shooting the comedy. Both have been vocal about their friendship, with Tatum recently stating “I haven’t really gotten along with somebody that quick and easy and without a problem maybe, like, ever. We just fell in step.” Last year, Tatum revealed his bromance with Jamie Bell posed a challenge on the set of The Eagle because their characters are supposed to be enemies for most of the movie. Tatum is also a good wingman –today’s gossip columns report that Tatum had to keep Jonah Hill from entering Jerry’s Deli in Miami following a drunken midnight skinny dip.

Tatum isn’t the type to hibernate in his house like some celebrities. Him and Dewan are always attending charity galas and spending evenings with friends at various restaurants. While in Toronto filming The Vow, the pair was regularly seen strolling through Yorkville and the Annex area holding hands. We have been told by our friend’s little sister, who is a part-time waitress in Toronto, that the couple is well-mannered, friendly, very much in love…and generous tippers.

Charity
Last summer, Tatum and Dewan donated their time to appear in a charity photo shoot for The Beauty Book to raise money for brain cancer research through the charities SNOG (Sydney Neurology Oncology Group) and ABTA (American Brain Tumor Organization). The two also help multiple causes through celebrity auctions. He surrounds himself with friends are doing good things as well – Jonah Hill’s cause, Nothing But Nets, raises money for and provides bed nets to prevent malaria and save the lives of children. It has just been announced that Tatum has been added to the lineup for Sting’s Rainforest Foundation’s annual fundraising concert on April 3 at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Living
Typically playing the love interest in movies, Channing’s body is a source of envy and inspiration for many men. A regular at the gym, Tatum uses a circuit-training program and eats high protein meals to maintain his lean, muscular physique, especially when preparing for a role. With many of his roles physically demanding, Tatum immerses himself in appropriate training routines and diets for each fresh part. He is said to understand the importance of balance, however, and is no way obsessed with fitness on his time off. He is known to drink alcohol and indulge in bar foods, though responsibly.

A family man, his seemingly perfect relationship with Dewan is the envy of females across the continent and he is said to remain close with his family, especially his grandparents who raised him during the summer as a child. Not one to get caught up in the fast life, he still takes time each summer to visit and spend time with them in his native state of Alabama.
