Calvin Klein is known for having some of the most notable ad campaigns of any fashion house. Using rising stars and established celebs, Calvin Klein’s seasonal campaigns are always a mix of sexy yet subtly chic – rarely going too far as to offend, but conversely, rarely playing it uber-safe. Such is the case with the recently released creative for Calvin Klein’s line of Naked Glamour underwear featuring none other than 27-year-old Dutch model Lara Stone.
The Naked Glamour series was photographed by famed photographer Patrick Demarchelier – you probably recognize his name if not for his work but for his name-dropping by Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada. Lara Stone is possibly best-known for the 2010 Prada Infusion d’Iris campaign, the 2009 Pirelli Calendar, and her work for Louis Vuitton, Versus by Versace, and H&M. (PS She’s also been credited by some influencers in the fashion industry as bringing the gapped-tooth look back into prominence.)
The Naked Glamour underwear/lingerie campaign features Calvin Klein-exclusive model Lara – whose look is remarkably old school – set against a dark grey backdrop and giving her best bedroom eyes. The images are far from extraordinary, sans effect and clutter, but this may be why so many eyes are on the Calvin Klein creative – it simply showcases the beautiful Stone looking…well, beautiful.
