Calgary’s short summers almost guarantee that Calgary’s YPs will be packing it up most weekend to enjoy the great outdoors. But during the week, we work hard and look forward to unwinding and meeting with friends over a drink or two thanks to some of Calgary’s most notable happy hours.
Mango Shiva
Known for its fresh and modern take on Indian food, Mango Shiva has created an equally unique happy hour that will help you alleviate workplace stress. Every Monday through Friday from 2-6pm, Mango Shiva serves select beer pints, cocktails, and house wine for $5. Best of all? You can pair these drinks with a variety of appetizers, like pakoras, flatbreads, roasted garlic and olives with naan, roasted nuts, and gol guppas, also priced at $5 each.
Gravity Espresso & Wine Bar
Gravity has been around for less than a year, but they’ve already made an indelible mark in Inglewood’s food and beverage scene. Although a different drink and food special is featured every Tuesday-Friday, it’s their Curry and Beer Night that has us most excited to end the work week on a high note. Every Friday after 5pm, enjoy chicken and mushroom Balti curry with rice and naan and a Dos Equis or Steam Whistle beer for $16 (while it lasts!).
deVille Luxury Coffee & Pastries
Although deVille is a popular weekday meeting destination for YPs on account of its consistently great coffee, take note: every weekday from 4-7pm (and all day on the weekends), deVille’s happy hour means $1 off glasses of wine and $5 bottles of St. Ambroise beer. Pair it with some cheese and charcuterie and you won’t want to leave.
Cibo
We can say with some confidence that a great pizza is a favourite among YPs. Cibo has extended happy hour to include not only special pricing on wine and Mill Street beer ($5); visit any day between 3 and 5pm and you can also snag a 6” pizza for $5. They call it $5 Pizza Happy Hour, we call it genius.
Vero Bistro
If the rush hour traffic on Memorial Drive & 10th Street NW has got you feeling less-than-happy, make a stop just up the road in Kensington and meet your girlfriends at Vero Bistro for Tuesday’s Girls Night Out. Sit on the patio for some great people watching while you nosh on appetizers (5 for $5) and complimentary chocolate-dipped strawberries and sip martinis ($8), wine ($6), or rose sparkling ($9).
