Calgary’s Best Restaurant As Voted By You

It was a tough job, but someone had to do it. Last week we asked our readers (the people with the best taste in town) to help us pick the very best restaurant in Calgary. You’ve tasted the Cali-style pizzas at UNA, sampled the charcuterie at FARM, and started your day with Cucina’s extraordinary breakfast and coffee. But there can only be one winner. Drum roll, please…

The winner is Charcut.

With 31% of the votes, its safe to say that Hotel Le Germain’s eatery is a cut above the rest.

Known for bringing Calgary good, honest farm-style meals, Charcut is always a first-rate choice for lunch and dinner with an inviting rustic interior, an in-house butcher that dictates the daily menu, and an impressive beer selection that goes over well with even the biggest of beer nerds.

And in second place is another Calgary gem north of downtown. Michael Noble’s new restaurant, Nash, might be getting all the attention this month, but Notable remains a dining staple in the city. Just one bite of that Stilton Cheesecake and you’ll see why 18.5% of you said ‘yes’ to Notable.

Interestingly enough, third place went to ‘Other’ with a noticeable number of votes going to Market on 17th (14.8%, to be exact). With one of the city’s only in-situ micro-gardens and Chef Bohati’s buzzworthy menu, it’s easy to see why this was #3.

Everyone is into the latest concept of Korean tapas these days, so it’s no surprise that Anju, just a quick walk down 17th, came in #4 with 8.1%. Close on Anju’s tail (with 7.7 %) and less than a block away was Model Milk, another classic that Calgary palates can’t get enough of. How can’t you love buttermilk waffles and farm-raised Chicken for mains?

Thanks for voting,g Calgary.

Below you’ll see a finely paired wheel of cheese breaking down all the votes. Take a look, and if you disagree with what you see, let us know in the comment section.
