Record Store Day
Happy Record Store Day! Lukes Drug Mart is having a sale on their entire music inventory to mark the occasion. These guys have a great selection and they’ve decided to extend the sale all weekend. Check out new records or peruse the classic LPs for a sweet deal. While you’re in, don’t forget to grab a Stumptown coffee from the coffee counter. Lukes is located in Bridgeland, a great little area with a variety of cool restaurants; Blue Star Diner is always a super pick for breakfast or lunch.

Lougheed House Christmas
The Lougheed House just opened up this week for the holiday season. There will be a beautiful display of Christmas trees each decorated by the Lougheed staff and the Calgary Design Group. This year the theme is Victorian Christmas. During the weekend the house will be full of activity and guests will have the opportunity to check out the new art exhibition Four Winters. This is an interesting old house to visit and there’s a restaurant on site if you wish to grab lunch.

Market Collective
Market Collective is back for the holidays with lots of cool stuff to check out. During the weekend, there will be art and paintings on display by the Burnt Toast Collective and comics for sale by Nathan Miller. Don’t miss out on all the unique pottery, leatherwork, home décor and clothing made by local designers. Cafe Rosso, the Canada Sweet Shop and Fiasco Gelato will be also be at the market selling snacks and refreshments while you cruise the tables or get your picture taken at the photo booth. Calling all filmmakers:
The Sled Island Music & Arts festival is looking for filmmakers to create the video trailer for the 2014 festival and they have put out a request for proposals. The filmmaker/s selected will work with the Sled team to create a final copy in early 2014. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to get their name out in the film community. For more details on what the proposals require, you can visit the Sled website. Closing date for submissions is the 15th of December.
