Friday

Romance In The Kitchen
Friday night is a great time for romance. On July 18th you can spice up your love life while you prepare a little something special in the kitchen when Chef Thierry Meret of Cuisine and Chateau teaches you and your sweetheart how to prepare a scrumptious three-course meal. Everyone will be provided with cooking supplies and aprons and you’ll also receive wine pairings to match each dish. To ensure you know how to recreate your new favourite meal, the recipes will be shared at the end of the evening. The class runs from 6:30 to 9:30pm and tickets are $119.

Brandy Melville
We’re getting a Brandy Melville store, which is exciting news for any of you fashionistas out there. If you’re into slouchy sweaters, colourful tees and vintage jeans, then you’ll adore this shop. In the past few years BM has gained an incredible following and you’ve probably seen some of the biggest celebs sporting their outfits. The store opens Friday in Market Mall and you can count on lots of great looks and prices to celebrate the grand opening.

Saturday

Rock the Walk
The 4th installation of Rock the Walk happens on July 19th along the East Village River Way; if the sun is out, this is the perfect place to walk or bike for lunch because you’ll have 20+ vendors to choose from. Between noon and 5pm Meisha and the Spanks will be performing a free show along with HighKicks and Beaver Sqaudron. If you’re feeling motivated to make the most of your day after you’ve had a bite and seen an act or two, then continue on the bike path that cuts right through East Village. The zoo is to the east and Edworthy Park is to the west.

Sunday

Sun and Salsa
The annual Sun and Salsa is taking place on July 20th where Kensington will be full of performers, artists, vendors and people who are eager to get out and take advantage of the street party from 11am to 5pm. Throughout the afternoon you can sample salsas, catch up with friends on one of the many patios in the area, and do a little shopping. It’s a great excuse to get out and do some people watching.

Red Bull Regionals
Once you’ve planned your Folk Fest weekend and taken in a few street parties it’s time to switch gears and head to the Commonwealth for the Red Bull Thre3style Regionals. On Sunday night the top DJs in the West are going to be competing to see who will advance and move on to the National round taking place in Vancouver. The lucky winner of this year’s National competition will be packing their bags and flying to Azerbaijan to represent Canada against the world’s best DJs. Don’t miss out on what is sure to be an epic evening.
