Calgary Weekender: December 28 through 30, 2012

The jolly guy in red has made his rounds and most of us are a little lethargic after spending time celebrating and sport eating (isn’t that what the holiday dinners are about?). But that is no excuse to lay low this weekend in Calgary. The following is a list of great things happening in the city for the last weekend of 2012.

Why not look back on milestones and memorable moments of the past year at the Science Centre with the 2012 Flashback event.?Put your skills to the test as you remember, reflect on and celebrate YOU in 2012.

If you are a music fan, the Polar Music Festival, featuring Deadmau5, Chris Lake, Mord Fustang, Dom G, and Titus 1 LIVE at the BMO Centre, takes place at 8pm on Friday – the night is going to be a blast.

If you are a movie buff, Untitled Productions’ 7th annual Free Screening Events ‘Reel Independent Films’ is happening throughout the weekend at several locations. This is a compilation of unique short films all written, directed, filmed, edited and produced by the two-person Untitled Productions crew throughout 2012 spanning multiple genres, featuring spectacular cinematography, brilliant writing and memorable characters.

If you are brave enough to embrace the freezing temperatures, why not grab some skates and head to any one of the city’s outdoor skating rinks with friends? You can always thaw out after with a little liquid warmth.

If you are down for rocking out old school, Canada’s legendary rock band Trooper will be performing at Century Casino.  Hey, we’re here for a good time, not a long time, so we may as well rock out.
