Friday

Tom Phillips
Come to Wine-Ohs for Happy Hour with Tom Phillips this Friday. Phillips is known for playing with the band the Men of Constant Sorrow. His music has been described as a mix of honky-tonk and classic country ballads.

Philips will be hitting the stage at 5pm. Stick around Wine-Ohs for a bite after the show. The Beef Tartar and the Grilled Steelhead Trout are delicious.  You can view the menu on the Wine-Ohs website.

The MOCA H20 Show
The Museum of Contemporary Art Calgary currently has the H20 exhibit on display. The H20 exhibit combines the work of Julius Popp, Max Streicher and a group of other artists who are have made a collection of art-inspired by water. The gallery is open from 11am to 5pm. Once you’ve checked out the exhibit, Local Bar (310 8th Avenue SW) is only a few blocks away. This is a great spot to start your weekend. Happy Friday!

Saturday

Meet Restaurant
Meet is a cool little spot on 17th that is sometimes overlooked. This lounge is attached to the excellent restaurant “The Coup” and has a low-key atmosphere with great cocktails, friendly service and good music. You can also order off the Coup menu, which is great if you’re in the mood for vegetarian. Stop in for a drink or a snack with friends this Saturday and listen to some downtempo beats from DJ Cory.

Pure: A Night In White
This weekend you can experience Pure: A Night In White as it hits Calgary. This party is for anyone who loves electronic music. Come dressed in white and dance all night to some of the hottest DJs. This is one of the longest-running white parties in Western Canada. DJs this year will include Porter Robinson, Headhunterz, W&W, Cosmic Gate, Bassjackers and many more who will keep the party going all night long. Check the website for ticket pricing.

Sunday

Solar Flare
Feel like getting some fresh air and a little exercise after all those big holiday dinners? Bring a hot chocolate and a warm jacket and go for a stroll downtown to check out the new Solar Flare art installation that hangs over 8th Avenue like a giant glowing sun after dark. You can also head to the Langevin Bridge and RiverWalk, which are being lit up with different coloured lights each night to honour local organizations.

Around the World in 80 Days
Sunday is the last chance to see ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ at the Martha Cohen Theatre. This is a wonderful story the whole family can enjoy.
