Calgary Weekender: December 23 through 25, 2011

Friday night is all about celebrating since it’s the last day of work before the holidays. Happy hours are bound to be a good time as YPs look to let loose a little before heading out to spend time with loved ones. We suggest getting your own started; grab some friends and head out to enjoy some holiday bubbles. Check out Vin Room located in the Mission neighbourhood at 2310 – 4 St. SW. They have an amazing selection of sparkling wines and offer 20% off sparkling wine or champagne from 4pm to 7pm every night of the week.

Despite Saturday being Christmas Eve, there is still a lot to fill your day with. Last-minute shopping is bound to happen for some of the busier YPs. But the last thing you want to do is fight the crowds. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again; The Core shopping centre is perfect for weekend shopping because it is never super busy. No need to worry about parking, it’s now free parking on Saturdays and Sundays.

No interest in preparing dinner tonight? We suggest you head to Open Range between 5pm and 8pm for their Christmas Eve Supper; $45/person gets you a delicious three-course meal including roasted Prime Rib with Truffle au jus. Their regular menu will also be available. We suggest calling ahead to book a table.

If you’re full of holiday spirit and looking to keep the party going, then head to the Ship and Anchor for their Xmas Eve Party with DJ Wah to party the night away with friends old and new.

Sunday is Christmas day! For those fortunate enough to spend the day with family and/or friends, you day and night is pretty much covered. For those who will be spending it otherwise, or those who simply need to get out of the house, check out our list of places that are open on December 25.

Don’t forget to also give back this holiday season. As YPs, we know how important it is to contribute towards the needs of others. Make sure to check out our list of ways to give back to the community this holiday season.
