BYOW Restaurants in Montreal

We know, we know. We’ve already posted one of these a few months ago, but some new spots have come to our attention and we’re always excited to share with our Notable readers good restaurants where you can save some cash by bringing your own bottles of vino. While Montreal is known for it’s great number of BYOW spots, the food often falls flat, but here are three where the food absolutely does hold up…and then some!

Tandem586 Villeray
This bring-your-own-wine restaurant is fairly new on the Montreal restaurant scene. In Villeray just east of Little Italy you’ll find this unpretentious French Bistro that serves up fantastic dishes in a tranquil environment. We recommend their salmon tartare duo paired with your favourite bottle of Chardonnay from the SAQ.

Quartier General1251 Gilford
This neighbourhood bistro offers local (regional) dishes that change with the seasons. (Wonder why we like it here so much…) The majority of people who dine here simply just like good food and good wine – and all love the fact that they can bring their own. The mission of Quartier General is to promote Quebec ranchers and farmers and they honour them by letting the food itself do the talking: They do as little to the ingredients as possible, letting the flavours come across clearly and crisply.

Khyber Pass506 Duluth East
Don’t be thrown off at all, Afghan cuisine has some of the most delightful flavours around. Khyber Pass, located in the heart of the Plateau, introduces local foodies to the beauty of Middle Eastern dishes in a relaxed atmosphere, with the winning touch of the BYOW allowance. Their lamb is truly special, and the cook, a sweet ‘mom’ type, makes sure all the dishes are traditional and not too spicy.
