Buzzworthy Brew News: East Side Beer Fest 2014

To complement the fact that Vancouver’s brewery scene shows no sign of slowing, this Wednesday marks the return of the East Side Beer Fest and all things microbrew. With several dozen small to mid-sized breweries popping up around town, quality craft beer is available in abundance and it’s pretty clear that our city’s thirst for quality microbrew is far from satiated.

So why not quench the penchant for beer by heading out of the office and over to the WISE Hall to sample a selection of seasonal offerings in the name of charity? The event, coordinated by Liberty Wine Merchant’s Commercial Drive boutique, is again donating proceeds from ticket sales to benefit the Greater Vancouver Food Bank – all for the love of locally produced beer. Last year’s inaugural event helped raise more than $4000 toward the Food Bank in addition to food items collected for donation at the door.

For the 2nd annual event, expect to see a cropping of new keg offerings with a mix of old and new vendors from throughout BC.  Tantalize your palate and sip the newest brew from notable newcomers Bomber Brewing and Four Winds. To complement the local collection, a handful of old world beer will be available as well as samples of Liberty’s own Liberty Distillery vodka and whiskey.

In between sips, stop by food vendor tables set up on site and sample delicious bites courtesy of various Commercial Drive establishments.

The night kicks off at 7pm and goes until 9pm with tickets starting at $24.99 (or head out with friends and grab 4 for $80). Learn more about this belly-filling fundraiser here. Tickets sell out and there will not be any sold at the door.
