Brunch is Better at Blacktail Florist

Newcomer to the Gastown dining scene Blacktail Florist has already caught our attention. With the drop of their tasty new brunch menu packed with locally sourced items, we bet you’re going to want to book a table pronto.

The space is inviting, fresh and airy, and when we popped by to preview the new menu, the front-of-house windows were wide open overlooking all the activity below. After settling into our seats, we were offered a choice of drinks to get things rolling.  Blacktail‘s classic brunch cocktails come with a few tasty twists, like the Caesar made with house-made clamato juice, horseradish and fresh pressed celery juice (yum!); and Kir Royale, or straight-up mimosa (which worked just fine for our dining companion).

Expect to have a hard time choosing just what you want to order when it comes time as the menu is just that tempting. You’ll find pork belly, buttermilk curd and freshly baked chive scone served with arugula salad and corned beef skillet with cheddar, green onions with potato roesti.

Satisfy your sweet tooth with an order of their French toast topped with seasonal rhubarb, hazelnuts and maple syrup, or go with the crêpe Genieve with strawberry, brie and mint.

We opted for a duo of Bennys (watercress and goat cheese as well as the peameal bacon and poached pear). Both were served with crisp and perfectly seasoned hash browns, a light salad and plenty of hollandaise sauce.

If you’re still hungry, an assortment of sides are available (sausages, pork and beans, extra salad, bacon and hash browns or fruit) to ensure all your cravings are satisfied.

Brunch will be served from 11am to 2pm every Saturday and Sunday. Reservations can be made online at opentable.com. Blacktail Florist is located at 200-332 Water Street.
