Breaking: Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Has Died

Some people seem larger than life.

They don’t seem capable of staying within the realm of the everyday, the ‘normal’. And, for better or worse, for the majority of 46 years Rob Ford was exactly that type of person.

As both a Toronto City Councillor and the city’s 64th mayor (from 2010 to 2014), Ford fought for the ‘little guy’, against the ‘gravy train’, and with pretty much anyone who stood in his way.

But after an 18-month battle with a rare form of cancer, Ford could fight no more. He died today, just two months shy of his 47th birthday.

Whether he’ll be remembered for his outspokenness and many scandals or what he was ultimately able to accomplish in his time representing the city remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure: Rob Ford will be remembered. And no matter your politics or thoughts about his private life, 46 is too young for anyone to no longer be able to put up a fight.

Especially when they were so damn good at it.
