Bombas: The Sock That Gives Back

Socks. Seems like a simple concept, right? Whereas athletic shoes have advanced almost unrecognizably in the last 20 years, socks still look and feel exactly the same. Enter Bombas, the game-changing socks designed by New York City-based young professionals David Heath and Randy Goldberg that just launched exclusively on Indiegogo. These socks are anything but typical.

So what makes Bombas different? Besides their eye-catching design, here are some other perks of the socks: stay up technology, a Y-stitched heel that creates a natural cup around your heel, a blister tab, a supportive performance footbed, Peruvian pima cotton that’s cool in the summer and warm in the winter, the invisitoe that eliminates the irritating toe seam of most socks, and a honeycomb support system that distributes pressure evenly throughout your arch. In short, they make socks as important for your feet as shoes.

The project started two years ago when Heath and Goldberg learned that socks are the most requested clothing item in homeless shelters. In similar vain to TOMS, then, Bombas donates a pair of shoes for every pair purchased to someone in need.

The initial Indiegogo fundraising goal of $15,000 has been met, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t check it out to score your feet a pair of these. There are a variety of packages available, from the $24 starter pack to the $350,000 Nobel Bombas prize and everything in between.

Check out the socks for yourself online. If you order them now, they will arrive by November – just in time to “sock up” for the winter.
