Birchbox Officially Launches in Canada

When we first heard about Birchbox, we fell for the idea of filling in our personal skincare deets and the surprise of five deluxe samples sent straight to our door each month for the price of what one sample usually costs.

Fact: forking over $14 is much less than what we spend on lattes in a week.

If you’re not the type to have commitment issues, there’s an ongoing subscription – but giving Birchbox a one-time try is just as appealing. For the beauty-obsessed bestie, you can give Birchbox as the perfect present.

Launching in 2010, co-founders Katia Beauchamp and Hayley Barna created Birchbox while in Harvard Business School. After a successful beta phase and raising capital, Birchbox continued to grow and opened a brick-and-mortar outpost in NYC, buying out similar concepts overseas, bringing forward Birchbox Man, and partnering with some of the biggest names in fashion, beauty, home and entertainment. Canada marks their sixth international market to enter.

Aside from the carefully curated selection of samples from cult products, new indie brands hitting the shelves, classic best-sellers and special edition boxes featuring cool collaborators, there’s also an online shop to choose full size-versions of the monthly surprises – paired with how-to videos, beautiful photo, and, of course, tips and tricks.

Winged eyeliner? Not as easy as it looks.

On board with this new way of shopping for beauty? The first batch of boxes will start arriving in Canadian mailboxes next week.
