A newcomer to the Old Port restaurant and bar scene, Bevo opened its doors in May 2012 but we just recently had the pleasure of finally sitting down and taking the new stylish, urban pub vibe all in. The bar is located in a beautiful heritage building dating from 1856. It is comprised of two floors. The spacious ground floor’s focal point is its expansive, fully-stocked bar surrounded with a rustic but modern décor, funky hanging bubble chairs, which are the cause for plenty of camera clicks, and a very cozy atmosphere.

The upstairs has ample space as well, able to host any dinner or networking parties you desire. The coolest thing about the second floor is its grand chandelier, a real outstanding fixture. There is usually a DJ playing great tunes to accompany your visit there.

Now let’s get to the cuisine. Bevo is specifically famous for their wood-burning oven pizza that is topped with the freshest ingredients and has the most delicious dough we have tasted in a long time. We were recommended the Pizza Cotto E Bocconcini (prosciutto cotto, Portobello mushrooms, tomato sauce, mozzarella, bocconcini) and was it ever flavourful. You could taste the amount of love and effort that was put into this. Some of you have been to Italy and tasted grandma’s baking and cooking, and this would have definitely had her stamp of approval.

Aside the pizza, we dabbled into the fried calamari and the Polpette di casa meatballs, both extremely delicious. Accompanying our meal, we ordered a bottle of the Pinot Grigio, Santa Margherita Valdadige, Italie, perfect for our food palette. They have a very extensive wine and drink menu so you will surely find the perfect beverage.

For dessert, we had to go with the Nutella Pizza – what a creative treat for the ultimate sweet tooth! The summer is host to a terrace that can hold around 65 people and is usually very full from what we hear. For all you happy hour fans, theirs lasts from Monday to Friday starting at 5pm until 7pm.
